VALID DRIVER LICENSE & GOOD DRIVING RECORD REQUIRED - NO EXCEPTIONS!
The Hog Loader works with other loaders to sort out and drive finishing animals from pens to truck, with special concern for animal welfare and proper handling.
Core Responsibilities
- Sorts and loads animals in a productive, SAFE and efficient manner.
- Uses herding board to move animals from pen to aisle.
- Counts animals onto truck.
- Maintains cleanliness of crew vehicles and equipment.
- Respects growers’ property and equipment.
- Presents good company image.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with company Environmental, Biosecurity and safety policies and procedures in the performance of their job duties.
- Reads and understands the company’s emergency notification process and reviews that policy at their work site.
- Complies with Smithfield PPE policies.
- Assists in training other loading employees as required.

- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous livestock handing helpful.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to do hard physical labor.
- Strong Commitment to teamwork.
- Ability to use loading equipment and tools.
- Ability to work day or night shifts.
- Must be supportive of the mission of raising swine for human consumption of high quality pork products.
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
